Questions
When does it open?
Soon. You can’t upload a spreadsheet yet.
Do I still need other software?
Yes. To send your figures to HMRC you upload our file to bridging software. HMRC’s software finder lists what’s available. We plan to start with a file for one product, and we’ll name it before we open. If it doesn’t fit your business, we’ll say so before the hold if we can. Turnover we can only check once we’ve read your spreadsheet, so that comes before you pay. Either way you can still buy the workbook alone.
Does that cover my tax return?
Not always. HMRC’s finder shows what each product covers, and some are ready for quarterly updates with the tax return still in development, so check before you rely on one for your return.
Is NeuSheet recognised by HMRC?
No. We don’t connect to HMRC or file anything, so we haven’t been through HMRC’s process. Check the bridging software you choose in HMRC’s finder.
Is moving records by file allowed?
HMRC’s guidance lists downloading and uploading files among the ways to link digital records. It doesn’t mention a tidying step like ours, so whether that’s covered is our own reading, not HMRC’s, and you or your accountant may see it differently.
Is this tax advice?
No. We ask, and you decide. We can explain how NeuSheet works, but what a question means for your figures is one for you or your accountant.
What if my spreadsheet is too messy?
If the free check can see that, it will tell you and say what to fix, with no charge and no checkout. If we only find out after the hold, it’s released and you pay nothing.
Do my answers carry over to next time?
No. We don’t keep your answers, so each upload asks again.
Can I do this on my phone?
The free check works on a phone. Answering the questions needs a computer or iPad.
